Updates and the 7-Day Online Check-In

BIMeta apps check online for new versions and verify every download (SHA-256 hash and digital signature) before installing it. To keep working, each app must reach the internet at least once every 7 days.

When an update is available

A window titled <App> Update says <App> X.Y is available and shows what's new. Choose:

Install now (or Install when I close the app) — the app closes, updates and reopens.
Always install silently — future updates install automatically; you'll see an *Updated to version X* notification.
Remind me later — asks again in about a week.
Skip this version — waits for the next release. Required updates don't offer this option.

“Needs to reconnect to the internet”

If an app hasn't been online for more than 7 days it shows a message like this and closes:

BIMeta MEP Analysis Studio needs to reconnect to the internet to continue. Please connect to the internet and reopen the app.

Connect to the internet (check VPN or proxy settings).
Reopen the app. It checks in and unlocks straight away.

Setting the computer's clock back does not get around the check.
Turned on Always install silently by mistake? Delete %LOCALAPPDATA%\BIMeta\<product>\update-state.json to be asked again.
