BIMeta Mail: Settings & Features Guide

This guide covers the settings and features available once you're signed in to BIMeta Mail webmail at bimeta.email. Open Settings from the gear icon in the left-hand app rail.

General

  1. Account: your display name, email address, authentication method, and JMAP server, plus the list of accounts signed in on this device.
  2. Language, Region & Time: interface language, date/time format, time zone, and first day of the week.
  3. Notifications: desktop push notifications, notification sounds, and email/calendar notification toggles.
  4. Default apps: choose whether mailto: and webcal: links on other sites open in BIMeta Mail.

Appearance

  1. Appearance: Light, Dark, or System theme; font size (small/medium/large); layout density (extra compact to comfortable); message list order; and toggles for animations and sender favicons.
  2. Layout: split-pane, focused-list, or reading-pane-at-bottom mail layout; toolbar position; and sidebar options (colorful icons, tag-color tinting, account switcher visibility).
  3. Themes: seven built-in theme packs (Default, Qui, Nord, Catppuccin, Solarized, Roundcube Elastic, Aurora Glass), each with its own light and dark variant.

Mail

  1. Reading: when messages are marked read, message spacing and font, what happens when you delete an email (trash vs. permanent), archive behavior, and mobile swipe actions.
  2. Composing: reply-from-received-address, plain-text-only mode, send delay/undo send, signature position, read receipts, and the sub-address delimiter used for tags like [email protected].
  3. Downloads: filename templates for exported emails (.eml), attachments, and multi-email .zip archives.
  4. Identities: manage additional “send as” email addresses and sub-addressing.
  5. Vacation Responder: an automatic out-of-office reply, with an optional date range.
  6. Filters: rules that automatically sort, label, or act on incoming mail (advanced users can edit the raw Sieve script).
  7. Templates: reusable email templates with placeholder variables, plus export/import.
  8. Folders: create and rename folders, and map them to standard roles (Inbox, Drafts, Sent, Trash, Spam, Archive).
  9. Tags: color-coded labels for messages, with optional nesting.

Privacy & Security

  1. Security: change your password, enable two-factor authentication (TOTP), create app passwords for apps that don't support 2FA, and generate API keys for scripts and integrations.
  2. Content & Senders: how external images load in messages, an option to always render mail in light mode, and a Trusted Senders list whose images load automatically.

Apps

  1. Calendar: default view, week numbers, event hover previews, a birthday calendar from your contacts, task support, and management of multiple calendars (each has its own CalDAV link and color).
  2. Contacts: group-by-letter display, import/export contacts as vCard (.vcf), and manage address books and categories.
  3. Files: browse and manage files stored in BIMeta Mail, with folder navigation, grid/list view, and sort options.
  4. Sidebar Apps: add custom apps or links to the sidebar, and choose whether they stay loaded in the background.

Advanced

About & Data has version information, settings sync across your devices, export/import your settings as JSON, a "refresh cached data" option if something looks stale, and a reset-to-defaults option.

Tip: use the Search settings box at the top of the sidebar to jump straight to any option instead of browsing categories.
